Flash LSI9240 (IBM M1050) to IT Mode

There is a sticker on the RAID card that contains a number that will start with 500605b please write down the entire number, we will need it later.

Create a bootable DOS drive using Rufus and copy the extracted contents to the root of the flash drive.

Once you have booted into DOS type the following:

$ megarec -writesbr 0 sbrempty.bin
$ megarec -cleanflash 0

Now you need to reboot and boot back into DOS

Next run:

$ sas2flsh -o -f 2118it.bin -b mptsas2.rom
$ sas2flsh -o -sasadd 500605bxxxxxxxxx

The “xxxxxxxxx” above is the remaining digits from the sticker that you wrote down earlier.

Also note that the command above will install IT mode with the option ROM if you do not require the option ROM or your bios does not have the ability to ignore the option ROM you will need to repeat the entire process but instead of:

$ sas2flsh -o -f 2118it.bin -b mptsas2.rom

you will run:

$ sas2flsh -o -f 2118it.bin

Now reboot and you are all done!
